East Lothian Community Care Forum gathers views on the care needs of people and their carers in their communities and allows service users to influence the policy makers. Governed by a management committee and with a part-time staff team of three, ELCCF has four speciality Forums on Learning Disability, Equality, Older People and Mental Health which are its main vehicles for community involvement. |
|
| The Forums bring together people from the community, volunteers and paid workers from community groups. They give people a voice and allow them to discuss issues important to them in their daily lives. Ideas and grievances are reported by representatives of each of the Forums to Joint Planning Groups. The JPGs bring together service users as Forum representatives, with people from the voluntary sector, East Lothian Community Health Partnership and East Lothian Council. ELCCF has four main aims: 1. To be a focal point for involvement, consultation and representation on health and community care matters. 2. To involve service users, carers and the voluntary sector in the work and development of East Lothian Community Care Forum. 3. To work in empowering and democratic ways to gather ideas and views from the community, organise them and present them to health and social work authorities. 4. To influence and improve design and delivery of health and community care services through partnership working. |
