What is Community Care?

What is it? - Who provides it? - How the information flows from the Forums - Community Care and the Law

Community care services in Scotland are particularly aimed at key groups of people who need support, such as:
  • Older people
  • People with physical and sensory disabilities
  • People who are mentally ill or have dementia
  • People with learning disabilities
  • People with HIV/Aids
  • People with drug or alcohol problems
  • People with brain injuries
  • Carers
Ideally, Community Care aims to enable people to stay in their own homes, and give them choice and control over their lives.

The Scottish Government Health Department wants people to receive speedy, responsive, high quality services from health, social work, and housing, with the aims of improving health, wellbeing, social inclusion, independence and responsibility.
